Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information is collected through devianseo.online, why it is collected, who helps process it, how long it is kept and what rights you have. It is written to describe what this website actually does, not what websites in general might do.
Who is responsible for your information
This website and the services offered on it are run by Mushambo Jason Derrick, trading as Devian Chard (“I”, “me”, “we”). I am the data controller for the personal information described here.

What I collect, and why
Information you give me. The site has these forms:

Some forms have an optional box to also receive the newsletter. If you leave it unticked, you will not be added to it. Every form carries a hidden field that people never see, which exists only to catch spam bots.
Information collected automatically. When you visit, the hosting provider receives the technical information every website receives: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. It uses this to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. I do not use it to identify or profile you.
No analytics or advertising tracking. The site currently runs no analytics, no advertising pixels and no social media trackers. If privacy-friendly analytics is added later, it will be cookie-free and this policy will be updated before it goes live.
Cookies and browser storage
This site does not set cookies. It uses your browser’s own local storage for three small conveniences, all of which stay on your device and are never sent to me:
- remembering that you closed the announcement bar;
- remembering that you dismissed the pop-up sign-up box;
- remembering which items you ticked on an interactive checklist.
You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser’s site data. The fonts are served from this website itself, so loading a page does not contact Google Fonts or any other font service.
The legal basis for using your information
Under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, and, for visitors in the European Union or United Kingdom, the GDPR and UK GDPR, I rely on:
- your consent, for the newsletter and the free book or playbook. You can withdraw it at any time;
- steps you ask me to take before a contract, and the performance of a contract, for enquiries, strategy sessions, applications and client work;
- legitimate interests, for keeping the site secure and free of spam and for keeping a record of our correspondence;
- legal obligations, for records that tax and accounting law require me to keep.
Who processes your information for me
I use a small number of service providers. They process your information only on my instructions and only to provide their service:
- Netlify (United States) hosts the website and receives and stores form submissions.
- Resend (United States) sends emails such as the link to the free book.
- Google (Gmail) holds my email correspondence with you.
If you become a client, the tools we use together, such as shared documents, video calls, invoicing and payment, are agreed with you in writing as part of the project.
I do not sell your personal information, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own marketing. I will disclose information only where the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of the business or others.
International transfers
The providers above store and process data in the United States and other countries outside Uganda and the European Economic Area. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on the providers’ contractual safeguards, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. By choosing to send information through the site, you understand it will be processed in these countries.
How long I keep your information
- Enquiries, session requests and applications: up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted, unless you become a client.
- Newsletter and download sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
- Client records, invoices and contracts: for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is generally five years after the end of the financial year they relate to.
- Hosting logs: kept by the host for its own limited retention period.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask what personal information I hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have your information deleted where there is no reason to keep it;
- object to, or ask me to restrict, how it is used;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything done before;
- stop receiving the newsletter, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to me.
To use any of these rights, email devianchard021@gmail.com. I will reply within 30 days, and there is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to a regulator: in Uganda, the Personal Data Protection Office at the National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U); in the EU or UK, the data protection authority where you live or work.
Security
Every page is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, form submissions are stored with the hosting provider rather than on shared or public systems, and access to them is limited to me. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach ever affects your information, I will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
Children
This site and its services are for adults running or working in businesses. They are not directed at anyone under 18, and I do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has sent me information, email me and I will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above changes with it. If a change affects how I use information you have already given me, I will tell you by email before it takes effect.
